Our Foundation
Crawlspace IQ was founded from our firsthand experience in new home construction. After building and working in general contracting for years, we know the crawlspace is one of the most important parts of the home—yet it’s often the least managed.
The Problem
While homes are built to meet code, crawlspaces are rarely addressed as a complete system during construction. Conditions can vary, moisture or mold may be present, and debris is often left behind during the build. There is little consistency in how crawlspaces are prepared for delivery at closing.
These issues are often discovered late in the construction cycle—typically when an inspector finds them. This can lead to costly remediation and buyer apprehension. While repairs may be completed, the underlying conditions that caused the problems can still persist long after the homeowner takes occupancy.
At the same time, homeowners rarely see the space beneath their home and have no clear way to understand its condition or history.
